big plans, big day, big dreams coming true.

Today is going to be a big day. I can feel it. One I get the errands out of the way, my morning is packed with writing that I missed out on yesterday and then in the afternoon, I will be closing office for a bit to deal with some family things.

Not to fear though, I will be back this evening as I have something amazing planned (more about that in a second). In case you may have missed it somewhere in twitter land, I’ve been offered the position of Chief Mom Officer for Babyspot.com. I blogged about this briefly at The Guilty Parent or you can read the official press release.

It’s an exciting position that I dove into head first the moment they hired me. After three weeks of interviewing and nail biting I was hired last week. (Yes, that is why you’ve missed me. I admit it now). Babyspot is a company after my own heart. They provide parents a place to share pictures of their infants and children with family and friends, interact, network, learn, and communicate with each other all through their online community. I will be helping to build that community and manage it as well. Every day I learn a new way in which my experience and expertise, as a mom, writer, social networker, marketer, advocate and business woman can be put to use. I feel less like I’m working and more like I’m helping great friends build their dream.

I will be able to keep writing and blogging (though kick me if you don’t hear from me once in awhile OK?), but I’m also working closely with Babyspot to develop their own blog platform (where I will be blogging also), some amazing web 2.0 tools designed to help parents interact and participate in the community, and connect Babyspot with companies that share their vision to give back, build a better future for families, and make their lives easier. Could you ask for a better job than this? It seriously gives me warm fuzzies all over.

So back to this evening… Oh yes! If you’re going to be in the neighborhood (and on the Internet, everywhere is “the neighborhood”) I would love for you to stop by and see me broadcast live, yes, LIVE, from Ustream.tv as I debut the first of hopefully many live shows all in conjunction with my role as Chief Mom Officer. Yesterday Katja Presnal of Ladybug Landings honored me with an interview that gives you a little peek at what I will be talking about tonight. Please stop by and if you feel inclined, be sure to participate in the chat!

See you there!

  6. [...] I gained a new job that embraces being a parent and all that it means. There is so much potential (both as a parent and in the job) that 2009 makes me dizzy thinking about it. [...]

  7. [...] I got a new job in October that I am still wrapping my head around but finally feeling I’m coming into my own a bit with it. I also introduced you to my niece Zoe. On a personal level that I haven’t shared much, I’ve been threatened with litigation if I didn’t stop sharing my personal feelings on a venue that I frequently write at. Needless to say, right now I don’t share some things or even my feelings and opinions on a particular topic. [...]
