Star Jones leaves The View… Immediately

I am not much into Hollywood gossip anymore but since I have become a SAHM, I do get to watch a lot more television.

So if I may, I would love to say that I saw this coming… but then again, so did everyone else in Lala Land it seems.

I mean, Star Jones sitting on the same panel as Rosie O’Donnell? Um… Ok that is about as likely as me winning the Publisher’s Clearing House.

What I didn’t expect was the way it happpend. It was apparently revealed that Star had known for some time that her contract with “The View” wasn’t being renewed. I had kind of figured on Star leaving on her own, without ABC’s help. What suprised me even more, (well… sort of) was the fact that ABC decided not to let her come on today’s show… that’s an immediate firing if ever I saw one. I say sort of unexpected for me because I EXPECTED ABC to be po’d about the comment(s) she made… specifically when Behar asked who she was going to fight with now that Star would be gone (on the show) and Star replied that she was sure there would be somebody (blatant dig at Rosie) but I did not expect ABC to issue and immediate firing for her comments. I figured them to take the higher road on this and let it go. How unfortunate that they couldn’t do that.

IMO… Star was ticked at not being asked back and so I think that she was gettting a chance to get her digs in, but if it were me, I wouldn’t have made those comments. I would have waited for another time (to sit and seethe) and then made all my comments… and really let’s be honest, I don’t think that Star would have been able to sit on the panel with Rosie for very long… I don’t even see Elizabeth Hasselbeck being able to take Rosie for very long, (but that is for another blog). I honestly expected that Star Jones would have left of her own accord a few weeks before Rosie came on the show.

But I also have another theory on this. Let’s pretend that since ABC knew for months that Star’s contract was not being renewed, ABC also knew that Rosie would be joining the show… perhaps in a preemptive strike to replace Star. But what about Meredith Viera? I still believe that somewhere she was aware of all this (Rosie coming, Star going) before ANYTHING AT ALL was made public and didn’t want to be any part of the show’s “New direction for the 10th season” and took the fast way out to NBC before things got ugly. But again, that is just a theory of mine… for all I know this theory has already been discussed and I am the last one to know. Like I mentioned in the beginning, I don’t keep up on Hollywood gossip… but just this one time… I couldn’t resist.
